In 2014, the leadership of the American car brand Ford showed for the first time the third generation of the Everest SUV, which the Australian division of the company worked on. Recall that the first generation Ford Everest was shown in 2002, and a year later the car went into mass production.

The third generation of the model, like its predecessors, is based on the iconic Ford Ranger pickup truck, which is still in production today.


I am glad that, despite the modern fashion, Ford Everest has not turned into a boring crossover, but has retained all the proprietary attributes of a real frame SUV, ready at any time for a real off-road assault. In addition to the updated appearance, the novelty has received a number of technical updates, new engines and a wider list of additional equipment, which makes it possible to position the car not only as a workhorse, but also as a comfortable car for traveling with the whole family.

Currently, the SUV can be bought in New Zealand, China, Southeast Asia and the Republic of South Africa, but in the near future the car may appear on the domestic market.

Exterior Ford Everest

Ford designers have done a good job on the exterior of the SUV, making it brutal, but at the same time extremely modern and stylish. The front part of the Ford Everest received a large octagonal false radiator grille, stylish LED head optics and a massive front bumper with a large air intake slot in the center.

The car's profile sports puffy wheel arches, oversized 20-inch wheels and a slightly upturned roofline. Large side doors provide a comfortable fit, and good visibility is achieved thanks to the large glass area and large "mugs" of the side mirrors.

The stern, as befits a real SUV, is endowed with a huge tailgate, large side lights with LED elements and a monumental bumper with a practical plastic body kit.

The dimensions of the new Ford Everest are:

The ground clearance of the SUV is represented by an impressive 225 mm, thanks to which the car confidently overcomes any off-road, and is also able to overcome a ford, the depth of which reaches 800 mm. The exit / entry angle is 25 and 29 degrees, respectively.

The cargo capacity of the machine allows you to place up to 750 kg of cargo, of which up to 100 kg can be placed on the roof. If necessary, Everest can pull a trailer weighing up to 3 tons, provided that the latter is equipped with its own brakes.

Customers can choose from several color options, among which orange and blue metallic looks especially impressive.

Interior Ford Everest

The interior of the updated Ford Everest is distinguished by a rather simple, but at the same time, ergonomic and well-thought-out layout. The front dashboard looks somewhat rustic, but it is somewhat refreshed by the original inserts for aluminum, which frame the display of the multimedia system, vertical air ducts and the inside of the steering wheel.

The instrument panel is represented by a large speedometer dial located in the center, as well as two digital displays, which show the readings of the on-board computer. In the central part of the dashboard there is a color display of the infotainment complex, below which there is a very modest outwardly but intuitive microclimate control unit.

The front seats have impressive dimensions and provide an almost "home" level of comfort, and a wide range of adjustments allows a person of any height and build to sit perfectly. Between the seats is a huge armrest, inside of which there is a large compartment for various luggage.

It is known that the car can be presented in both a five- and seven-seater configuration, and even third-row riders will feel quite at ease.

One of the main features of the updated Ford Everest interior is the presence of more than 30 niches for accommodating various items and small things, the total volume of which exceeds 48 liters!

Unfortunately, the volume of the trunk in the stowed state is not yet known, but it is known that with the backs of the second row lowered, it is more than 2000 liters. Under the boot, there are special niches for a repair kit, while a full-size spare wheel lives "outside".

Compared to its predecessor, the interior trim materials have been significantly improved, as well as the list of standard equipment has been significantly expanded, providing a high level of comfort for passengers and the driver. Note that both externally and internally, the car is more suitable for men, while a girl driving such a car will look somewhat strange.

Specifications Ford Everest 2016

The line of power units Ford Everest 2016 is represented by three engines, two of which are diesel. The gasoline engine is represented by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine of the EcoBoost line, developing 238 hp. and allowing to accelerate to a maximum of 200 km / h.

In this case, acceleration from 0 to 100 will take just over 11 seconds. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle will vary between 8.5-12 liters per 100 kilometers, which can be considered a very good indicator for a car of this class and dimensions.

Diesel engines are presented:

  • 2.2-liter 150-horsepower four-cylinder unit, capable of accelerating the car to "hundreds" in 10.1 seconds and developing a maximum 200 km / h;
  • 3.2-liter 200-horsepower five-cylinder engine with excellent dynamics: acceleration from 0 to 100 in 8.7 seconds, top speed - 205 km / h.


The gasoline engine can be equipped exclusively with an automatic 6-level gearbox, while diesel modifications will also be offered with a 6-range "mechanics".

The car is available in both mono and all-wheel drive versions.


Regardless of the level of equipment and the installed engine, the SUV is equipped with a spring suspension, represented by a double wishbone at the front and a continuous axle with a Watt mechanism at the rear. The braking system Ford Everest features ventilated disc brakes at the front at the front, while the rear will be fitted with conventional drum brakes.

Thanks to a well-tuned suspension and the use of modified shock absorbers, the car is devoid of excessive body swing, and the improved control allows you to feel confident not only on a broken dirt road, but also when driving on a high-speed highway.

Safety

Ford officials emphasize that the car has become an order of magnitude safer, which was achieved not only thanks to the use of modern ultra-strong grades of steel, but also due to advanced active and passive safety systems, including:

  • Brake force distribution system;
  • Anti-lock braking and stabilization system;
  • The system responsible for assistance when descending from a slope and starting down a hill;
  • System that controls the location of the trailer (if any);
  • Systems for monitoring road markings, tracking "blind" zones and the driver's condition;
  • Active cruise control;
  • 9 airbag;
  • Seat belts with pretensioners and more.


Note that, despite its large dimensions, Everest provides good visibility, which is facilitated by a large glass area, large side and interior rear-view mirrors, as well as a large tailgate window.

The car can easily cope with the role of a family car, providing a high level of comfort and safety for both the front and passengers of the second and third rows of seats.

Presumably, in the Russian market, the car will be offered in several configuration options, while the basic version will cost a potential buyer at least $ 19.67 thousand (1.2 million rubles) and will be able to offer the following equipment:

Conclusion

Ford Everest is a stylish and truly masculine car with the attributes of a true off-road conqueror, a comfortable and spacious interior, a wide range of standard and optional equipment and decent dynamic characteristics. The main competitors, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner, are inferior to Everest not only in terms of design and cost, but also in terms of off-road capabilities, which will be a key factor for outdoor enthusiasts.
