Information has repeatedly surfaced that Mazda is preparing to present its first production electric car. There were various assumptions about what the new product will be and whether the style of the company will be maintained. Now, at the Tokyo Auto Show, the company has officially unveiled the new Mazda MX-30 electric car.
In terms of design, the manufacturer retained the original and recognizable features, on the other hand, added uniqueness, thereby distinguishing the novelty from other models. According to the manufacturer, this is the next step in Kodo's design philosophy, which they previously wanted to apply to existing models with internal combustion engines.
A very noticeable feature of the new Mazda MX-30 electric car is considered to be the rear suicidal doors, which are devoid of external door handles. Such doors open from the passenger compartment and against the movement of the electric vehicle. On the one hand, this is additional safety, and on the other hand, a comfortable fit for passengers in the second row. Recall that the manufacturer previously used the same doors in the RX-8 model, which was produced from 2003 to 2012.
For the interior design of the new Mazda MX-30, designers have used completely recycled and environmentally friendly materials. As an example, the tray on the center tunnel is made of bark wood, and recycled plastic was used for the door trims. Likewise, recycled materials have been used for the fabric for the upholstery of the seats of the electric car. The front panel is made in a floating style. Above, the panel was decorated with a 7 ″ touchscreen display of the multimedia system. He was entrusted with the management of climate control, as well as the systems of the new electric car, including security systems. Most of all interest is attracted by the technical characteristics of the new Mazda MX-30 electric car. For the novelty, engineers have specially developed the e-Skyactiv system. It is based on an electric motor with a capacity of 143 horses and a maximum torque of 265 Nm. Power is based on a 35.5 kWh battery. As the statistics of the WLTP cycle show, with such characteristics, the power reserve is enough to drive up to 200 km without recharging.
If you use a special charger, then from 0 to 80% of an electric car can be charged in 30-40 minutes, which is already considered a good indicator for this model. It is also worth noting that the G-Vectoring Control Plus system is built into the new electric car, which recognizes the load on the steering and body. Thanks to the software, the system independently decides at what moment to increase the load on the electric motor, and when to save money. Thus, you can not only save energy, but also improve comfort.
As it became known, despite the fact that the new Mazda MX-30 electric car was only presented at the auto show in Tokyo, pre-orders for the new product have already started in Germany. It is assumed that the first deliveries of new electric cars from Mazda to customers should be expected in early 2020.
