The Lada company decided to update the received Chevrolet Niva, replacing certain parts. Now, there is officially information from the manufacturer that the first restyled copies rolled off the assembly line on December 21, 2020. The SUV has really been significantly updated in terms of the exterior, but inside it remains the same, going through the features of the top-end configuration of the Chevrolet Niva with a multimedia system.
Indeed, this can be called a full-fledged restyling, since the front end has changed beyond recognition. On the other hand, many motorists have already noted that the design of the new Lada Niva Travel resembles the Toyota RAV4 or the latest generations of Toyota 4Runner in details and style. This is especially good for the new optics, an open and at the same time strict radiator grille, as well as a plastic body kit.
There are few features and details of the updated Niva Travel, it is worth noting a massive hood, most likely LED front optics and an open radiator grille with oval mesh inserts. The front bumper, which resembles a plastic mask, turned out to be very interesting. At the very bottom of the bumper, a pair of round foglights and a pair of towing hooks were placed.
If we consider Lada Niva Travel in profile, then there are very few changes. At the base, new light-alloy wheels are installed, side moldings have appeared. Most noticeable are the new plastic wheel arch liners. Their boxy shape is in many ways pulled from the RAV4 2020, but for such a body it would be worth making them smaller.
The rear of the Lada Niva Travel has been updated with new LED stops, as well as a slightly modified rear bumper. The feet were highlighted due to the divided sectors, and the bumper received a plastic lining and a couple of additional holes. In other words, the bumper now does not look as simple as it used to be, but a little brutal. As for the rest of the parts, they remained in their places, from the spare wheel on the trunk lid to the LED stop repeater at the top of the glass. In principle, these are all updates in appearance.
As for the interior of the new Lada Niva Travel, it all depends on the configuration, and there are no significant improvements. The equipment presented to the journalists was literally pulled from the top modification of the Chevrolet Niva with a multimedia system. The screen, as before, was placed in the center of the front panel, but whether the filling (software) will be changed is still a secret.
It's no secret that the old software gave a lot of failures and constantly slowed down. Accordingly, after restyling, it would be nice to modify this defect from its predecessor. They also do not exclude the situation that after the multimedia they can install new front seats and sheathe the interior with better materials.
The least information about the technical characteristics of Lada Niva Travel, they promised to open it closer to the official start of sales. Nevertheless, according to the OTTS, which was recently issued for the updated car, no special changes should be expected. The Lada Niva Travel SUV will still be equipped with a proprietary all-wheel drive, a 1.7-liter gasoline engine and a transfer case with a forced differential lock.
The gasoline engine will be able to produce 80 horses, with a maximum of 127 Nm of torque. The proven 5-speed manual transmission will work in tandem with the engine. As for the cost of the new Lada Niva Travel, it has not yet been named, in the same way as the date of the start of sales of the SUV.
Nevertheless, if we take into account the fact that mass production has been launched, and the first copies have already rolled off the assembly line, then we should expect the appearance of Lada Niva Travel in dealerships already next month. If we recall the statistics, then earlier Chevrolet Niva was included in the TOP-25 best-selling cars in Russia.
Despite the quarantine and other economic instabilities, in November the pre-styling model sold out with an indicator of 2,248 copies. For the year, the SUV sales grew by 15.3%, which is a good indicator in the current economic conditions. According to the manufacturer, the dealerships will be the first to receive two configurations Base and Off-Road.
