A bit of car history

The car became famous among Koreans as the first medium-sized SUV. It was officially presented to the public back in 1994 and since then the 3rd generation of the car has already been released. The first generation of Kia Sportage has become very popular - it is a "running" car in the market of budget SUVs not only in Korea, Russia and Ukraine: compact size, highly competitive price, convenient and most importantly comfortable interior. The first generation Kia Sportage was produced until 2004, as this year a new "brainchild" was released.

KIA Sportage: crash tests

This car was produced with several bodies: a station wagon (5 doors) with a total length of 4245 mm; 3-door with a short base 2360 mm; 3-door with a slightly longer base 2650 mm.

From the salon, the front seats can be positively noted - for the driver and passenger on the side. There is enough room for both. The seats are very comfortable and have 4 position adjustments. For long people, there are no problems either. But what can I say about the rear passengers, they clearly cut their comfort. Three people - it will be cramped, not to mention the "dense" men with bellies, where there is enough room for two and no more.

The engine was made to choose from - both gasoline (two engines) and diesel (also in two versions). Volumes were also provided to buyers, although only one diesel was 2.2 liters (6.5 hp), the other diesel with a 2.0 liter turbine (90 hp), the rest of the diesel engine and two petrol engines were 2 liters each ( 115 and 140 horsepower).

KIA SPORTAGE was made with a suspension equipped with anti-roll bars. The rear was multi-link, and the front was on two wishbones. The ground clearance has a satisfactory performance of 200 mm, naturally new models with better cross-country ability. Among the advantages, one can note the durability. After 10 years of car operation, no particular problems were found. The manufacturer recommends the owners of the first generation Kia Sportage to change the oil every 15 thousand km on gasoline engines, and for diesel engines every 7.5 thousand mileage, and with an automatic transmission after 30 thousand. If it is necessary to replace the timing belt on any of the engine types, then change the rollers with a chain.

Before proceeding with the repair of electrical equipment and other mechanics - disconnect the negative terminal from the battery or completely remove the battery.
