At the official show presented the maximum configuration of the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe. The main features of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe 2019 are the new 20 ″ M Performance alloy wheels and high-speed tires. Together with everything, we installed the logo lighting in the doorways. The radiator grille is completely new, in total made in the form of a hexagon, the lower part of the bumper received large air intakes and an additional grille. The front end is completed by a modern narrow LED optics. On the side, the sports car BMW 8-Series Coupe 2019 was decorated with a line that stretches from the front optics to the rear stops. The roof of the car is made using double-bubble technology, with a double curvature, like classic racing cars, which smoothly passes into the rear window. At the rear, the new BMW M850i xDrive has got diagonal and horizontal lines, as well as LED rear feet with a 3D effect, which significantly improved the overall style of the novelty.
Another important nuance of the new BMW 8-Series 2019 is dynamic performance. To reduce aerodynamic drag, the bottom was made almost flat, active control of the grille flaps was added, air ducts were added in the front fenders, and the body of the side mirrors was also reduced. In addition to all the details, a front spoiler is added, it minimizes the lift on the front axle, which often appears at high speeds.
The interior of the new BMW 8-Series 2019 is made in the modern lines of the company with an emphasis on the sporty character of the car. Decorative details, or rather inserts only on the front panel, at the transition between the sports car dashboard and the center console. As for the seats of the 2019 BMW M850i, starting from the basic configuration, they are covered with Vernasca leather, in addition to leather seats, the door linings and the front panel of the sports car received the same upholstery. The second row of seats in the BMW 8-Series is designed for seating three passengers, and the proportion of folding is 50/50, while the volume of the luggage compartment is 420 liters. The front panel of the new BMW 8-Series 2019 resembles the front panel of the previously presented BMW X5 2019, although the display the multimedia panel is still separate from the tidy. In the center of the console is a small color display for climate control and two small control panels for security and audio systems. The diagonal of the multimedia display is 10.25 ″, and the new BMW 7.0 operating system is installed as a control system, the instrument panel will surprise no less, now it is completely digital, based on a color 12.3 ″ display, with the ability to sort and display the necessary sensors and devices.
The BMW 7.0 system can be operated in a variety of ways, using touch input, selector, voice control or gestures, as on the new 5-Series and 7-Series cars. In total, the interior of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe 2019 is unique for the company, which gave an order of magnitude more sporty character to the novelty.
Under the hood of the new BMW M850i 2019 sports car, a completely new 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 unit is installed. Compared to the previous engine of a similar design, the engineers added 68 horsepower, which increased the total power to 530 horsepower. Now the maximum torque is 750 Nm. As a result of such characteristics, acceleration to the first hundred square meters on the speedometer will take 3.7 seconds, which is an order of magnitude better than expected.
In addition to the announced engine of the new BMW M850i 2019, the German manufacturer also spoke about another inline-six with a volume of 3.0, which will be installed on the BMW 840d Coupe with all-wheel drive. According to preliminary data, the total power is 320 horses, and the torque is 680 Nm. Unlike the charged version, the diesel 840d will overcome the first hundred on the speedometer in 4.9 seconds.
Regardless of the trim of the 2019 BMW 8-Series and engine, the tandem will be an 8-speed Steptronic Sport, with shift paddles behind the steering wheel. Compared to the previous generation, the new transmission has acquired a long gear range, as well as a completely new transmission control program. Changes also came to the suspension of the new BMW 8-Series 2019, according to the manufacturer, struts with double wishbones are installed in front. A five-link suspension with a flat booster is installed at the rear, which improves the responsiveness of the vehicle and optimizes the suspension stiffness.
The list of safety and comfort systems of the new BMW 8-Series 2019 turned out to be quite rich. Among the main systems are:
- climate control with Start-Stop function;
- lane control assistant;
- active side impact protection;
- blind spot monitoring;
- night vision system;
- monitoring of transport when driving in reverse;
- parking assistant with automatic mode;
- reversing assistant (memory for the distance of the last 50 meters).
A more complete list of comfort and safety systems for the new BMW 8-Series Coupe 2019 will be announced after the start of sales. In Europe, the start of sales of the new BMW 8-Series 2019 is scheduled for November 2018, at the same time the official prices of the car will be announced.
According to preliminary data from German dealers, the new BMW M850i will cost from 120,000 to 125,000 euros, and the diesel 840d xDrive from 100,000 euros. There is also a more interesting option, according to the manufacturer, in the second half of 2019, a charged BMW M8 with a 600 horsepower unit will appear, but the price tag of this option starts at 180,000 euros, which is an order of magnitude more expensive than the two previous options.
